STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES LEFT BEHIND AMIDST PANDEMIC
Children with disabilities have the right to a free appropriate public education
LEXINGTON, KY, September 3, 2020 — The U.S. Department of Education recently stated that schools must “make every effort to provide special education and related services” to students, however, most schools in Kentucky still do not have a plan.
The holidays don’t exactly look like what I envisioned them to look like when I was a young girl….but that’s okay, right? Right?
Perhaps the holidays mean new traditions. Traditions that I begin, that will forever hold a special place in my son’s heart.
Being a single parent can be challenging and downright scary. But what happens when you are a single parent with a child (or children) on the autism spectrum? I know this topic doesn’t intimately touch everyone, but perhaps you know someone that is on this journey. Maybe you will relate to much of this article even though not divorced.
We are living in a very fast world. The world keeps getting smaller and smaller as technologies are improved and knowledge is progressed. It is very easy to amuse ourselves, to fulfill our needs and even get what we want. However, in this fast-paced life not everyone will be able to catch up. Some may be left behind, but not because they choose to be. We should not limit this world only to the able.
